How Does a Student Register to Participate?

Students may participate in the ceremony if they have:

  • Filed a graduation application by the appropriate deadline,

  • Purchased the appropriate cap and gown.

The deadline for May (2017) graduation is April 10, 2017. Though there is no guarantee that the student’s name will appear in the program, applications will still be accepted for participation up until May 8, 2017, along with a $30 application fee.

Where Do Graduates Get Their Caps and Gowns?

You may purchase your tassel, cap and gown at Herf Jones or through Graduation Source. If you need assistance or an alternate option please contact MCC Connect at 866.664.2832 or mccconnect@mohave.edu

It is recommended that graduates wear comfortable shoes (preferably flat) for the ceremony. The Mojave Crossing Event Center uses a temporary floor for this event which can be dangerous to those wearing high heels. Besides, everyone will be focused more on your big smiles and less on your feet!

Special Accommodations

Mohave Community College is committed to assisting any individual requiring special accommodations. Please be aware that seating includes bleachers or seating accessible by stairs. If a participating graduate or a guest requires assistance, such as parking, special seating, captioning services, or other services we ask that you call Danette Bristle at (928) 704-9480. While all requests will be considered, we ask that you notify us by May 8, 2017, so we can best accommodate your needs. Mohave Community College staff will be available before, during and after the event if additional assistance is required.

Are Tickets Required?

No tickets are needed for the event and all seating is general admission. The venue is roomy, so please invite as many family and friends as you would like.

Will the Event Be Recorded?

Yes, we record commencement. After the ceremony, visit our YouTube Channel to view the recorded ceremony.

Can I Take Photos?

Please take lots of pictures and video to save and share this special day. However, due to the number of participants and guests, only authorized personnel will be able to get close to the stage. Individual graduate photos will be taken on the stage by a professional photographer. For more information visit our photography page.

Other Considerations

Traditionally, the commencement ceremony takes place in Fort Mohave.

In choosing attire, be aware that the date is mid-May in Arizona. While the Event Center is air-conditioned, it is difficult to get just the right temperature to please hundreds of guests. Please be prepared in case the venue is a bit on the cool side or the warm side for your tastes.

Please do not pack anything into your purse or small bag other than a wallet, a camera and some bottled water. Neither Mohave Community College nor the Mojave Crossing Event Center takes responsibility for lost or misplaced items.

MCC staff will be available throughout the venue to help you with any questions.
