How long does it take to complete the certificate programs? Each program is 19 - 30 credit hours. It can take from two to four semesters to complete a certificate, depending upon how many classes you can take each semester.

What are the residency requirements for MCC? Please refer to pages 6 and 7 of the college catalog (available online) for residency requirements, and page 15 for tuition and fees schedule.

Is financial aid available? Yes, MCC has extensive financial aid available. Please see pages 20-25 in the college catalog for information on applying for financial aid, and available scholarships. Students who are interested should apply for aid using the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) to see if you qualify. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for an online application.

Who determines if course work transfers to MCC? The MCC registrar makes all decisions regarding transfer of courses and will only evaluate official written transcripts. Visit your local MCC campus Student Services Office for more information.

Do the Associate of Applied Science degrees transfer to a 4-year university? Yes. Both ASU and NAU will accept an AAS degree in Administration of Justice. U of A only has a Public Administration program.

How often are classes offered? Administration of Justice and Fire Science classes are offered every semester including summers. Classes are available during day and evening hours, limited weekends, and online through MCC's distance education program.

Can I improve my GPA? Yes, classes may be repeated in order to improve your final grade.

Are these programs accredited? Yes, MCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, other accreditations apply to specific programs, where applicable.

Does MCC offer job placement in the area of Public Safety? The hiring process is conducted by the agency’s Human Resource Department.

Will a criminal record exclude me from any law enforcement careers? A felony conviction will exclude you from a law enforcement career. Misdemeanor convictions are evaluated by a law enforcement agency on a case by case basis.
