MCC employees often ask TSS for advice when purchasing electronic equipment for the office. The following information is intended to help employees make such purchasing decisions, but these are suggestions only.

If you feel that these items don’t offer the features you need or if you have any questions, you can request additional purchasing advice via the Help Desk (ext. 1142). A TSS staff member will receive your request and contact you to discuss your particular situation.

If you are ready to purchase one of the following items, TSS can get a quote & do the purchasing paperwork for you. Simply open a Help Desk case & include all of the following information: the make & model of equipment to be purchased, campus & building for delivery, and your budget code.

Local Printers

TSS recommends the use of centrally-located network printers vs. local (single-user) printers. Network printers are more economical to own and operate, and they can be expected to function much longer than a local printer. If you do decide to purchase a local printer, however, TSS recommends that you purchase any HP model that fits your needs. HP printers seem to last a bit longer than their competitors, and replacement ink is readily available at local office supply stores, Wal-Mart, etc.
