Mohave Community College

YOU CAN SUCCEED AT MCC & WE'LL HELP YOU

Where Do I Start? - A simple assessment screening is available at MCC to determine the level at which students will be successful when they begin their studies. Some will need refresher courses in basic education and some will need to take the GED before they can begin their studies toward a new, more rewarding career. Others will go right in to college-level courses. The Compass assessment will help students and their MCC academic advisor know where to start.  Click the MCC Testing Services link on the right for details about Assessment Screening.

Can I Afford It? - Everyone who wants to go to MCC can afford it. MCC’s tuition and fees are among the most affordable in the state of Arizona and Financial Aid is readily available for working adults as well as recent high school graduates. In recent years, 100 percent of the people who applied for Financial Aid at MCC were offered some form of assistance – grants, loans, scholarships or employment.

What If I Need to Start from the Basics? Life can interrupt your pursuit of an education. If you didn’t finish high school, or barely got through, MCC can help you with refresher courses in basics such as English, math and writing. Once you have mastered those skills, you can move on to college-level courses and toward a new, rewarding career.

GED preparation and testing are available at MCC for those who do not have a high school diploma. GED preparation is free, but there is a charge for the state examination. Click on the GED link on the right for details.

How Much Time Will It Take? - Certificates and associate’s degrees at MCC require different numbers of classes/credit hours. Most certificates can be completed in one year of full-time instruction for a total of 30-33 credit hours (eight to 10 classes). However, some certificates take as little as 8 to 11 credit hours. Most degrees take two years of full-time instruction for a total of 60-64 credit hours (20 to 22 classes). For every hour you spend in your classes, you should plan to spend one or two hours doing reading and homework.

Who Can I Count on to Help? – The faculty, staff and administration at MCC are dedicated to helping you succeed. Your academic advisor will help you decide on the education and career path that will be most rewarding for you, but her job doesn’t end there. Feel free to stop by the advising office anytime you have a question about your education. Your instructors are also qualified advisors and if you need answers to tough questions, the deans and college administration are here to help. Student success is our primary focus at MCC. Click on the link on the right to see who is here to help you succeed.
