Mohave Community College

Over the last three decades, the fire service has modified its historical practice of on-the-go training to one of systematic preparation for career entry and advancement.

This change in methodology has awarded professional status to the fire service. Today, in an emergency, no other agency has a more profound impact on citizen’s lives. With the constant threat of man-made and natural disasters, the fire service needs to effectively and efficiently meet the growing list of demands that a community places upon it. MCC now offers these choices:

  • AAS with Emphasis in Fire Science - The AAS in Fire Technology is designed for the student who expects to further his or her career in the fire service or related fields. The Fire Science program offers students command development and continuing education courses.
  • The Certificates gives practical fire fighting operations and practice. It serves as a step in students' work to earn and Associate of Applied Science degree with an emphasis in Fire Science. Fall courses are:
    • Driver / Operator Certificate 40-42 Credits
    • Fire Fighter Certificate 21-23 Credits
    • Fire Officer Certificate 52-54 Credits

Mohave Community College’s Fire Science program, which mirrors the latest national qualification standards, is designed for the fire service professional who wants to either enhance their technical competencies or increase their prospect for career advancement. Graduates of the program will have a "theoretical core" on which they can continue to build upon throughout their lives.
