Mohave County Community College District Special Bond Election - A Statement from the District as to why the Special Bond Election has been called.

The Governing Board of the District on February 8, 2008, adopted a resolution calling a special bond election. Approval is being sought at the Nov. 4th general election to authorize the issuance and sale over several years of a total of $111,500,000 principal amount of general obligation bonds. It is currently projected that the bonds will be repaid by secondary property taxes. The Governing Board has evaluated capital projects proposed for the next 20 years and selected those which are of the highest priority and within the financial capability of the District. If approved by voters, the bonds will allow the District to construct new buildings, which may include but not be limited to:

  • Lake Havasu City Campus: Comprehensive Student Services Center, Child Care Facility, Multi-use Educational Structure, Maintenance Facility, and a Business and Community Conference Center.

  • Neal Campus Kingman: Comprehensive Student Services Center, Child Care Facility, Multi-use Educational Structure, Library, and a Business and Community Conference Center. 
  • Henry Campus Bullhead City: Comprehensive Student Services Center, Child Care Facility, Multi-use Educational Structure, and a Business and Community Conference Center. 
  • North Mohave Campus: Multi-Use Educational Structure.

In addition, the Bond may be utilized for:

  • Constructing and improving or remodeling and modernizing existing facilities; 
  • Constructing and improving or remodeling and modernizing Interactive Television Facilities and Computer Labs; 
  • Improving Technology infrastructures; 
  • Demolition or removal of temporary modular buildings; 
  • Equipping and furnishing buildings; 
  • Completing on-site and off-site improvements; 
  • Constructing additional and improving existing roads, sidewalks and parking facilities; 
  • Installing new and upgrading existing utilities; 
  • Purchasing, leasing or acquiring use rights in land adjacent to the Lake Havasu City Campus;
  • And to pay all legal, financial and other costs in connection with the foregoing.
