LHC Spanish Club to examine Spanish-speaking cultures - April 13, 2009

copy-of-angelina-ortiz-at-hispanic-month-forum-april-09.jpgAngelina Ortiz, an associate faculty member on Mohave Community College’s Lake Havasu City campus, speaks to a group about Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures during a National Hispanic Heritage Month event on campus. In Room 303 at 3:30 p.m. on April 21, Ortiz will join other local Hispanics in discussing their backgrounds growing up in different cultures. Panelists include: Dr. Owen Williams, born in the United States but grew up in El Salvador; Ortiz, who is deaf and was born in Mexico. She is bilingual in English and American sign language; Luis Lopez, a prominent local Hispanic and politician who began his life as a migrant farm worker; and Dr. Nicolas Sanchez, president of MCC’s Lake Havasu City campus, who grew up in New Mexico.
