Can I earn a complete degree without leaving Mohave County?
Yes. Distance Learning students are able to complete their entire degree without taking classes at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus through our partnership with MCC. For a complete listing of degrees available online or at NAU Mohave see: www.distance.nau.edu/programs/degreesearch.aspx
How does the partnership between MCC and NAU work?
MCC furnishes the student with their freshman and sophomore course work which is then transferred into NAU. NAU furnishes the student with their junior and senior course work and awards the bachelor’s degree upon completion of all requirements. Consult your NAU Academic Advisor for details as some programs allow transfer of additional community college course work and require fewer NAU hours.
What is Dual Admission?
Dual admission is an opportunity for students at Mohave Community College to gain early admission to Northern Arizona University. See a local NAU or MCC advisor for details. Dual admission is available only for degree programs offered through The Extended Campuses of Northern Arizona University. MCC students planning to attend the NAU Mountain campus in Flagstaff must apply for university admission as regular transfer students.
What are the advantages to Dual Admission?
- Enhanced academic advising and transfer support. Advisors at MCC and NAU work together to keep you on track
- University benefits while taking community college courses. You qualify for an ID card that gives you access to NAU’s Cline Library, campus cultural and athletic events, and student discounts
- A seamless transition from the community college to the university and a waiver of the $25 application fee
- With the completion of your Associates Degree or AGEC, you do not have to fulfill the Freshman Requirements for admission to the university.
Are North Mohave Campus students eligible for Dual Admission with NAU?
North Mohave Campus students are eligible for Dual Admission with NAU. Students may contact the Kingman office by emailing kingman@nau.edu. The direct telephone number for the Kingman campus is 928.757.5007. Students may also call the toll free number, 1.800.426.8315, and ask to be transferred to the Kingman office, extension 41950.
What is MCC’s Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC), and should I earn an AGEC while at the community college?
An AGEC is an agreement between the community colleges and universities in Arizona. The agreement is that when you complete a community college AGEC, you have earned 35 credits of liberal studies requirements at any of the state’s universities. If you ever intend to continue your education beyond the community college, an AGEC provides a great opportunity to take classes that will transfer directly, and without question, into a bachelor’s program. All NAU bachelor’s degrees require completion of liberal studies requirements.
Is the Degree I earn while attending NAU Mohave the same as the Flagstaff Mountain Campus version?
Yes. The same high-quality, accredited programs offered on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus are made available to students who require options other than the traditional, residential experience. These programs are offered either entirely online or at one of thirty NAU campuses around Arizona. Students can also earn a degree through a combination of delivery methods, taking some classes online, some at our non-residential campuses and others via satellite television.
Do you accept dual concurrent enrollment or college coursework from high school students?
Yes. One semester prior to enrolling in your 1st class at NAU you will be required to submit transcripts from all institutions attended. A grade of “C” or higher must be earned in order to transfer credit to be awarded. Colleges attended must be regionally accredited for courses to transfer to NAU.
How can I make sure that I only take classes required for my degree?
By working closely with both the MCC and NAU advisors students can pursue a course of study that will transfer seamlessly to NAU. Students should be aware that the advising they receive will depend on their chosen degree program and that changing majors may result in additional requirements that were not part of their original program. It is never too early to talk to an NAU advisor.
How can an NAU Advisor assist me?
Working with an advisor, you can decide on a degree, complete admission and transfer steps, receive an unofficial transfer evaluation, determine your current academic status, see what additional requirements you need to earn a bachelor’s degree, select and enroll in classes, identify procedures and solutions for academic problems, and receive referrals to other campus resources.
How do I get an appointment to see an NAU Advisor?
There are NAU advisors on site at MCC’s Bullhead City, Kingman, and Lake Havasu campuses. You can drop by the office to make an appointment, or call to schedule an appointment time. The phone numbers are:
Bullhead City 928.763.7146
Kingman 928.757.5007
Lake Havasu 928.505.3362

Can I get financial aid as a DL student?
NAU Distance Learning students can apply for and receive financial aid. To receive most types of financial aid you must be admitted into a degree-seeking program and be enrolled in at least half-time hours (for an undergraduate this means you are taking at least 6 units). For more information about Financial Aid see: www.distance.nau.edu/finances/finaid.aspx.
How do I apply for Financial Aid?
You can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
How do I search for scholarships?
www.fastweb.com is a free scholarship search engine that has a database of over 600,000 scholarships worth over $1 billion.
Does NAU offer a tuition payment plan?
Yes. Please visit our web site at: http://home.nau.edu/bursar/tuitionpayment.asp.
How long is the program?
A bachelor's degree is designed as a four-year degree program, but length of time can vary depending on how many credits a student takes each semester. To complete in four years, the student will need to successfully complete 30 semester hours per year. Assume for every 30 credits transferred; a year will be subtracted from the required four.
How do I register for classes?
Registration for classes is part of the New Student Orientation program which is offered at each location the beginning of each school year. Once you are ready to enroll you will be notified of the dates.
How do I get a catalog?
NAU catalogs are available online at http://www4.nau.edu/aio/AcademicCatalog/
academiccatalogs.htm.
What programs are available in Mohave County?
Go to the Distance Learning web site, www.distance.nau.edu click on campuses; then search by campus name; click on campus of choice; then click Degrees offered on site and Degrees offered online.
How can North Mohave Campus students determine which NAU programs are available?
NAU currently offers 44 undergraduate degrees and certificates completely online, as well as 18 graduate programs. Students can search for online programs at http://distance.nau.edu. The Kingman campus advisors are available to assist North Campus students with any questions about online programs.
What student support is available to me as a distance learning student?
Distance Learning Students have access to the same student support provided to students on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. Many student services have been made available online. For example tutoring, library resources, career services and more are all provided online to Distance Learning Students. Students can also take advantage of the full range of services provided by NAU's thirty non-residential campuses throughout Arizona.
