Mohave Community College

We welcome you to the Mohave community College Library System and encourage you to take full advantage of our range of library services.

CIRCULATION POLICY

Ask a Librarian!

If you have any questions, please ask our library staff members. We are here to assist you.

Basic Borrowing Rules

  1. Borrowers must have a Mohave Community College library card to charge (check out) library materials.
  2. All damaged or lost materials shall be paid for or replaced by the patron to the satisfaction of the librarian. To prevent damage, non-print (audio-video) must be returned to the circulation desk.
  3. Patrons are responsible for all materials charged to their card. Patrons may not loan their library cards.
  4. Patrons may request library materials from another campus or place a hold on materials that are currently charged to another patron.
  5. A patron is considered delinquent when one or more items are overdue. Delinquent patrons will not be allowed to charge additional materials until all items are returned or paid for.
  6. Patrons who fail to return library materials and who disregard overdue notices and bills, will be referred to the College Business Office. Accounts placed on financial hold are considered to be cleared only after all materials have been returned to the college library or payment for any damage or loss is received.

Loan Period

  1. Most books and other materials are loaned for a period of three weeks; video cassettes for a period of one week.
  2. Materials may be renewed when no other patron has placed a hold on them. A maximum of two renewals is allowed.

Library Cards

  1. Mohave students, non-students and organizations residing in Mohave county and nearby communities may apply for a free library card at any of the campus libraries. One acceptable form of identification showing current local mailing address is required at the time of application. (Acceptable forms of ID include: student registration, drivers license, printed checks, printed utility bills, car registration, etc.)
  2. Parents or legal guardians shall be responsible for all materials checked out by immediate members of the family under the age of 18 years. A Library Application form with the signature of a parent or legal guardian must be on file before a card will be issued to a person under the age of 18, unless the youth is a registered student at Mohave Community College. The Library Application must be signed by the  parent and minor in the presence of library staff.
  3. Patrons shall immediately notify the library by telephone or in writing of loss or theft of library card, change of address or phone number. Until notice is received by the library, patrons are responsible for any materials charged to lost or stolen library cards.
  4. A charge of $5.00 shall be made for a replacement library card and is to be paid at the reception desk in the campus front office. A copy of the paid receipt must be presented to library staff before a replacement card will be issued.

Requested Materials

  1. Requested materials will be held for five (5) working days after the patron has been notified by telephone, or seven (7) working days after a notice has been sent by mail. Requests are filled in the order they are received.
  2. The term “materials,” as used throughout this policy, includes any library item which is loaned to a library patron including, but not limited to, books, non-print items (audio/video), and equipment.
