The mission of the Nursing Department is to promote excellence in nursing education and practice by maintaining high standards and serving as stellar role models.
The ultimate goal of the Nursing Department is to prepare nursing graduates for safe and effective clinical practice. Students must register through the Nursing Office. The Nursing Program is a countywide program with classes being offered in the southern part of Mohave County in Kingman, Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City, and for the northern part of the County in Colorado City.
Mohave Community College offers the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing, and a Practical Nursing Certificate at the student's option. The College also has accelerated nursing tracks for licensed practical nurses and paramedics. In addition, Nurse Refresher programs are offered as well.
AAS - Nursing - This program is designed to prepare students for a career as a registered nurse. Check the prerequisites described in the Program of Study (link at right) before applying for admission to this selective program. Students successfully completing the program will be eligible to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses. The program is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
AAS - Accelerated Nursing Track for Paramedics - This track is designed to transition paramedics into a registered nurse career in three semesters beginning with summer sessions. Students must have completed the prerequisites before acceptance into the program and beginning the summer sessions. Students successfully completing the program will be eligible to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses. The program is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
AAS Accelerated Nursing Track for Licensed Practical Nurses: This track is designed to transition LPNs into a registered nurse role in two semesters. Students must have completed the prerequisites before acceptance into the program. Students successfully completing the program will be eligible to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses. The program is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
