The Early Start Program is a scholarship program for Mohave County high school students, home schooled students and Mohave Community College GED graduates who would like to earn college credits tuition free!
Here's how it works:
- The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for seven credit hours (usually two courses).
- The courses can be taken during the summer after completion of the junior year or in the fall and spring of the senior year.
- Eligible college level courses are numbered 100 or above.
Student’s Responsibility
- Students must meet the prerequisite requirements of the course through assessment scores (COMPASS), ACT or SAT scores or prior college level credit.

- Complete the required MCC admissions forms. Students under the age of 18- must complete MCC Admission form, which requires parental consent to enroll in college classes. (Parental Permission Form)
- Pay the activity/technology fee, and course-specific fees at the time of registration.
- Purchase books and other supplies as required for the course(s).
Required Verification of grade level
- High school students, submit the Early Start form to their high school counselor for verification of grade level. Bring the signed form to the student services office at the local MCC campus.
- MCC GED graduates, bring the GED letter they received to the student services office at the local MCC campus.
- Home schooled students; submit a copy of the “Affidavit of Intent” on file with the Mohave County Superintendent of Schools office to the student services office at the local MCC campus. Home school provider must sign early start form to verify grade level.
All students applying for this scholarship must meet with the MCC campus Student Services Director, Career Planning Counselor, Academic Advisor or Admissions Counselor to determine eligibility.
