The Early Start Program is a scholarship program for Mohave County high school students, home schooled students and Mohave Community College GED graduates where you can earn college credits tuition free!
Here's how it works: The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for seven credit hours (usually two classes) during your senior year and the following summer, in courses that lead to a certificate or degree at MCC. You pay the activity/technology fee, assessment and course-specific fees.
You also pay for books and other supplies needed for the class (which you would normally pay, in addition to tuition).
Requirements:
-
All Students must complete the required MCC admissions forms and assessments required to take college level courses.
-
Students under the age of 18 must complete the appropriate MCC Admission form, which requires parental consent to enroll in college classes. (Parental Permission Form)
-
High school students, submit the Early Start form to their high school counselor for verification of senior status. Bring the form to the student services office at the local MCC campus.
-
MCC GED graduates, bring the GED letter they received to the student services office at the local MCC campus
-
Home schooled students, submit a copy of the “Affidavit of Intent” on file with the Mohave County Superintendent of Schools office to the student services office at the local MCC campus.
All students applying for this scholarship must meet with the campus Student Services Director, Career Counselor, or Admissions Counselor to determine eligibility.
