The Mohave Community College Board of Governors will meet on Thursday July 12, 2018 to consider the purchase of equipment for updating its data center. The equipment is responsible for running the College’s learning management system, administrative computing system, financial aid software, document storage system, service desk software and virtual access system. According to Chief Information Officer Mark VanPelt, “Essentially, everything but the e-mail runs on this equipment.”
On May 14, 2018, MCC’s Procurement Department released Request for Proposal 9-1718, IT Infrastructure – Data Center Equipment and received 8 proposals from 7 vendors ranging in price from $565,000 to $1,200,000. After extensive review and evaluation by the evaluation committee, the 4 top vendors were selected. Following the selection, each company was contacted to confirm that the offered products were consistent with what was requested and the vendors were given an opportunity for a best and final offer.
The evaluation committee is recommending Dell EMC as the preferred vendor for the equipment. The College recommends accepting the Dell proposal in the amount of $728,542.17. This amount includes all taxes, fees and a 10% contingency.
The Governing Board will meet Thursday July 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. originating at the Neal Campus Kingman, Bldg. 100.
