MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College is offering generous scholarships to people who have taken classes at the college, but left without earning a college degree or certificate.

“The Finish Strong Scholarship is a great opportunity for former MCC students to come back and earn the degree or certificate they want,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein.  “A lot of students had to stop their pursuit of higher education for a variety of reasons, including the virus.  One of their big challenges has been financial, and the college is in a position to help them overcome that challenge, which will benefit students, their families and our communities through an educated and highly skilled workforce.”

The college Student Services department recently identified more than 1,100 people who, over the past two years, stopped taking classes before earning a degree or certificate.

The Finish Strong Scholarship awards students based on their grade point average when they last attended classes at the college, and how many credits they take when they re-enroll.  Those who earned mostly A’s and B’s in the college courses and return as full time students could receive up to $2,000 per year.  Those with a C to B- (minus) grade point average who return as full time students could receive up to $1,000 per year.

Any former MCC student may be eligible for the scholarship.  For more information, contact the college at 866-MOHAVECC, 866-664-2832, and ask to speak with a college representative about the Finish Strong Scholarship.  Information is also available on the college academic scholarship page, which can quickly be found at Mohave.edu/Academic-Scholarships.

For current students and those who have never attended MCC, there are many other scholarship and financial aid opportunities available.  Those wanting to get started can get more information by filling out the free application at Apply.Mohave.Edu, and a student services representative will contact you.  Current students may contact their advisor or the Financial Aid Office for assistance with scholarship information.

The college is currently enrolling students in summer and fall semester classes.  Summer classes start on June 1, while fall classes start August 23. Applying to become an MCC student is free at Apply.Mohave.edu, or just stop by a campus near you.
