MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Center for Teaching and Learning has a new recording studio by One Button Studios for faculty and students to use. The studio is a step closer for instructors providing an engaging and quality online learning experiences.

“The addition of a user-ready recording studio that’s set up with lighting, sound, green screen and more. It allows faculty to focus on teaching rather than figuring out how to set up a studio and record without support,” said Danette Bristle, Center for Teaching and Learning Executive Director. “Once the semester starts, the studio will have two lab assistants that will support the faculty member during recording and edit videos if necessary.”

Funding for the studio came from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. The funds were used toward developing the studio because faculty members were asking for video support and this is a solution for faculty to save time and frustration.

Abigail Jaimes-Gomez, Educational Developer at Center for Teaching and Learning, said the studio allows users to easily record high quality multi-media presentations that are interactive in many ways.

Features include a variety of preset video settings, screens that display the presenter and the information being presented, a touchscreen monitor where the presented can annotate and highlight information and much more.

“The studio is incredibly user friendly. The only preparation to begin recording is to build a presentation. Once users are in the studio and with the touch of a few buttons the settings can be automatically customized to display different background images and presentation positions,” Jaimes-Gomez said.

The studio is located on the Bullhead City campus and open to all faculty members on all campuses. If the studio is used by faculty, then plans to bring to the Kingman and Lake Havasu will be in the works. Students are also encouraged to use it for class video presentations.

The Center for Teaching and Learning is hosting on open house at 2 – 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 8 on the Bullhead Campus quad 1 room 4. To schedule a time to use it, contact Danette Bristle at (928) 704-9480 ext. 4480 or dbristle@mohave.edu.
