MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College would like to congratulate Lake Havasu Campus students Kevin Gauthun and Ashley Teodosio for being selected as 2024 All-Arizona Academic Team members in the transfer category.

All-Arizona Academic Team members in the transfer category receive a full tuition scholarship to any public university in Arizona after they graduate MCC. The scholarship covers resident tuition for 10 consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits for the fall and spring semesters.

Kevin Gauthun

Gauthun is pursuing his associate degree in computer science with a focus on cybersecurity. After graduating from MCC, he plans to earn his bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or computer science from Arizona State University.

“Receiving the All Arizona Academic Team Scholarship was an indescribably amazing feeling,” Gauthun said. “This scholarship is more than just financial assistance; it has been a source of motivation and affirmation that my hard work and commitment to my education are being recognized and rewarded.”

His ultimate career goals are to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, in concentrating in the areas of malware analysis and penetration testing. With the knowledge he acquires, he hopes to give back to the educational community and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity experts.

As an MCC student, Gauthun is Vice President of Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa-Alpha Chi Chi, President of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) club, and is Secretary for Student Activities Council. He is also a work study student at the Hodel Library on the Lake Havasu campus.

Ashley Teodosio

Teodosio is pursuing her associate degree in education. After graduating from MCC, she’s transferring to Northern Arizona University (NAU) to earn her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She’s also in the process of applying to NAU’s Professional Education Program.

“Receiving the All-Arizona Academic Team scholarship feels like a dream because I have always struggled with my education and when I returned to school, I succeeded,” Teodosio said. “I still see myself though as that kid that thought college wasn’t in the cards for them. I’m excited to see what my future holds when it comes to my education.”

Her love for education comes from having a teacher in high school that went above and beyond to make each student feel seen and heard. Teodosio hopes to become a teacher her students can count on.

As a student, she was the founder of the student club, Bighorn Nerd Herd, where now she holds the role of treasurer. The club is a space where students can talk about all things nerdy like video games, Anime, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering and more. Teodosio is a first-generation student, meaning she is the first in her family to attend a college or university.

MCC partners with in-state universities like Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and The University of Arizona to make transferring credits a seamless process. The College also has academic partners across the country. MCC can be a stepping stone to an advanced college degree or other specialized education opportunities. Students in the transfer category were celebrated during a ceremony Wednesday in Phoenix with all the other All Arizona Academic Team recipients across the 10 community college districts.
