MCC North Mohave student selected as 2024 All-Arizona Academic Team Member

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College would like to congratulate Alisa Hammon, a student on the North Mohave Campus, for being selected as a 2024 All-Arizona Academic Team member.

All-Arizona Academic Team members in the transfer category receive a full tuition scholarship to any public university in Arizona after they graduate from MCC. The scholarship covers resident tuition for 10 consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits for the fall and spring semesters.

“I work so hard that being recognized feels amazing,” Hammon said. “I will keep applying for these supports to help me until I graduate with a bachelor’s degree.”

Hammon is a liberal arts major at MCC and is planning to transfer to Western Governors University or Northern Arizona University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and humanities. Her career goal is to become a teacher in humanities, and eventually become a college professor.

She chose MCC because family attended the College, and suggested that it’s a great place to start before transferring to a university, especially with its affordability and locality.

“MCC has helped me by supporting me throughout my educational journey, especially financially through scholarships and advisors providing guidance throughout the years,” Hammon said.

Hammon is a mother, wife, student and works full-time. She starts her day at 6 a.m. to complete school work, then tends to her family, goes to work until 5 p.m., then after work tends to her family for the evening. From 8 p.m. to midnight, she focuses on her school work and taking her online classes.

MCC partners with in-state universities like Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and The University of Arizona to make transferring credits a seamless process. The College also has academic partners across the country. MCC can be a stepping stone to an advanced college degree or other specialized education opportunities. Students were celebrated during a ceremony Wednesday in Phoenix with all the other All Arizona Academic Team recipients across the 10 community college districts.
