MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College students in the Physical Therapist Assistant program were able to wheel around during class to learn more about the different types of wheelchairs out there and how to assist patients with those type of needs.
Students were able to learn from guest speakers who specialize in the profession about the manufacturing, production, and use of wheelchairs in the profession.
“Basically, they learned everything from the manufacturing of wheel chairs, production of wheel chairs, and how wheel chairs are used in the healthcare profession,” Jennine Ramirez, PTA program technician said. “They learned how to identify specific needs for individual patients to help give them a better quality of life.”
Guest speakers from Kingman Regional Medical Center, Numotion: Wheelchair & Mobility Equipment Company, and Quantum Rehab taught PTA students the different components that come with making and selecting a wheelchair.
