Mohave College: A New Name, the Same Commitment to Excellence!

Mohave College: A New Name, the Same Commitment to Excellence!

The College President’s Cabinet reviewing and discussing new logo options.

We’re excited to announce that Mohave Community College is officially rebranding to become Mohave College! This exciting change will take effect in August 2025, with the unveiling of a fresh, new logo that reflects our growth and evolution.

The journey to this rebrand has been a thoughtful and collaborative process. Starting in Fall 2023, the College Rebranding Committee gathered input from students, employees, key stakeholders, and community members through surveys, focus groups, and meetings. After extensive research and discussion, the MCC Board of Governors approved the name change in September 2024.

New Mohave College Logo
The new logo has been approved by the board and was the overwhelmingly favorite chosen by students, employees and community members. The Office of College Communications is currently working with facilities and employees across all the campuses and learning centers to identify and replace the MCC logo.  This transition will happen though the summer, with an official unveiling in August 2025. While the name is changing, one thing remains the same: Mohave College will continue to serve as a proud member of Arizona’s community college system and the Mohave County Community College District, which will remain our legal name.  Read more about the new logo announcement.

Why Rebrand?

The College Rebranding Committee meeting to discuss and review the change to Mohave College and visual elements that may best reflect the change.

Mohave Community College (MCC) is at a pivotal juncture in its history. With the State of Arizona and the MCC Board of Governors approving the launch of bachelor’s degree programs, it is an opportune moment to rebrand the institution as Mohave College. This change aligns with expanded academic offerings, the addition of NJCAA athletics, and addresses incorrect perceptions associated with “community colleges.” Below is a summary of the reasons why the college board has agreed to Mohave Community College changing its name to Mohave College. The higher education landscape is evolving, and institutions must adapt. Rebranding to Mohave College will:

  • Enhance the college’s image locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Mitigate the stigma often associated with community colleges.
  • Maintain the college’s strong connection with the community.

Reflect the New Academic Offerings

Introducing bachelor’s degree programs signals a transformative step for MCC, aligning it more closely with four-year institutions. This shift will:

  • Attract students who may not have considered MCC.
  • Communicate the value of academic credit and noncredit offerings.
  • Highlight the college’s commitment to advanced educational opportunities.

Enhance the College Image

The term “community college” often carries a stigma. Rebranding to Mohave College will:

  • Boost the college’s reputation.
  • Attract and retain high-quality faculty and employees.
  • Strengthen regional partnerships.

Maintain Community Connection

The name change reflects growth while honoring MCC’s mission. Mohave College will:

  • Continue offering programs tailored to local needs.
  • Maintain partnerships with businesses and schools.
  • Ensure community engagement remains a priority.

Stakeholder Support

Extensive research shows overwhelming support for the name change:

  • Surveys: 72% of respondents support the change.
  • Focus Groups: Participants value continuity, clarity, and image enhancement.

Implementation Plan

The rebranding process includes:

  • Redesigning the logo, website and marketing materials.
