MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College students were honored at the All-Arizona Academic Team award ceremony Wednesday, Feb.19 in Gilbert, AZ. Students who attended the ceremony were Milaya Jackson (Kingman), Jollene Ramirez (Bullhead), Karla Carrera (Bullhead) and Centa Davis (Lake Havasu). A total of five students from MCC were honored with the award, including Morgan Knudson (Colorado City) who couldn’t attend the ceremony.

All-Arizona Academic Team members in the transfer category receive a full-tuition scholarship to any public university in Arizona after they graduate from MCC. The scholarship covers resident tuition for 10 consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits for the fall and spring semesters.

At the ceremony students were accompanied by family members. MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein also had the honor of placing medals on students.

Ramirez is pursuing her associate’s degree in administration of justice. After MCC, she plans on transferring to Arizona State University to work towards earning her bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice. Carrera is pursuing her associate’s degree in dental hygiene. After earning her associate’s, she plans to transfer to Northern Arizona University.

Davis has completed her associate’s degree in registered nursing. She’s planning to pursue her bachelor’s degree at The University of Arizona where she has been offered to attend the W.A. Franke Honors College.

Jackson plans to transfer to either Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University or The University of Arizona. She’s still exploring her options of what bachelor’s degree she would like to pursue. At MCC, she’s working toward earning her Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts.

Knudson is pursuing her associate degree in education while also taking social and behavioral science courses. After graduating from MCC, her goal is to transfer to Northern Arizona University to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.

Those wanting to start their educational journey at MCC can enroll for the spring and summer semesters. Spring semester eight-week classes begin March 17. Summer semester begins June 2. For those wanting to wait until the fall semester, enrollment is now open with the semester tentatively starting Aug. 18. Get started at Mohave.edu/admissions.
